Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, traditionally consisting of eleven players each. It is played on a circular or oval field with a 22-yard-long rectangular pitch at the center. The game involves two main roles: batting and bowling. The batting team aims to score runs by hitting a ball bowled at them with a bat and running between two sets of wickets, while the bowling and fielding team tries to dismiss the batsmen and limit the runs scored.

The fundamental objective of cricket is to score more runs than the opposing team. Matches can be played in various formats, including Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 (T20) games. Each format has specific rules regarding the number of overs, or sets of six legal deliveries bowled by a bowler.

Cricket has a rich history and is governed internationally by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It is particularly popular in countries like India, Australia, England, Pakistan, and South Africa. The sport is known for its strategic depth, sportsmanship, and traditions, making it not only a game but also a significant cultural activity in many nations.
